Meet Jason!
Jason Lohmann is running to represent you and your family in the Minnesota Senate. Jason has lived in the Zumbrota area nearly his entire life. It's where he grew up, graduated from Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School, and built a life with his wife of 22 years, Elizabeth. Together they have two boys, Cole (20) and Tristan (18), who are growing up with the same small-town values that shaped their dad.
Jason’s path hasn't followed a straight line, allowing him to wear many hats over the years: roofer, truck driver, farmhand, construction worker, mechanic. These days, he’s a boom operator and delivery driver at a local lumber yard. Jason proudly refers to his zigzagging career as the “school of hard knocks.” Through every role, he has learned the value of hard work, grit, and showing up for others.
Farming has always been in Jason’s blood. He got his start helping his grandparents on their dairy farm as a kid — and loved every minute of it. That love never left. Today, he farms around 800 acres alongside his wife, sons, and parents, growing corn, soybeans, sweet corn, peas, and some hay. It’s more than a job — it’s a way of life.
Service to his community is also deeply rooted in Jason. He is in his tenth year on the Zumbrota-Mazeppa School Board and also serves on the Goodhue County Education District Board, where he helps make important decisions about special education across multiple districts. Jason has also served his community on various other boards working on things like fire safety, the county fair and township functions.
All these roles — from farmer to truck driver to school board member — have prepared Jason for the next step: to be your voice in the Minnesota Senate. He’s not a career politician. He’s one of you. He knows what it means to work hard to put food on the table, to raise a family, and care deeply about your community including its schools, land, and future.
Jason is running because he believes our rural communities deserve strong, honest representationand will bring common sense, practical experience, and a working-class voice to St. Paul.
