Why I am Running
Jason wants to run for the Minnesota Senate because he feels many of the people making choices for us have forgotten who they represent. Elected officials have a duty to listen to all information on a topic, even when it’s hard and uncomfortable. Bipartisan discussion is essential for results that benefit our constituents. We need more teamwork, more honest talks, and fewer fights. When two sides disagree, there is always some middle ground if we’re willing to work together. While there are endless issues to fight for, the four he is most passionate about are the following:
Education
Strong support pre-K through 12
All children deserve a strong educational foundation. As our future citizens, each child should have access to a good education no matter where they live. Jason’s experience as a school board member has given him insight to our current educational system which can help guide legislation to benefit our schools.
Veterans
Full support for Veterans
We must make sure every Veteran gets the care and respect they deserve. Veterans sacrificed their life, time and families to defend the rights and freedoms we enjoy daily. We have a responsibility to provide them with strong medical and mental health care, as well as the support and resources that allow them to thrive.
Protect
Family Farms and Small Businesses
Jason wants to help keep family farms going and create a path for young people to continue the tradition. Farmers also need fair prices for what they produce. As a farmer himself, he understands this on a personal level and can help advocate for a better price on their commodities.
Small businesses are the lifeline of our rural communities. Jason is passionate about ensuring small businesses thrive and have access to opportunities to continue serving our communities.
Better funding
For rural infrastructure
Rural towns need stronger support for roads, community services, fire departments, and ambulance services. Greater Minnesota tends to get lost in conversations about infrastructure. As a lifelong rural resident, Jason wants to ensure our rural communities receive their share of funding to continue to thrive.
